Egalitarianism...the next Christian Fumble.

They say it all started with Elvis and his “fast” music and gyrating hips. But there were many catalysts before Elvis that affected the moral standards that we have today. Prohibition brought lawlessness to an all time high in the 20’s, World War II brought women into the work place (outside of her home) in the 40’s and seduced her with the idea of having “more” outside of husband, children and home. Rock and Roll scandalized the upstanding citizens in the western world in the beginning, but slowly most people learned to swallow it. Next we saw the generation of the 60’s who seemed bent on rebellion simply for the sake of rebellion. Bras were burned, “free” love was the going thing, and illegal drug use soared.

Things only continued to worsen in the 70’s and 80’s. What we saw on television declined. The FCC has seen many alterations to their rules as well. In the beginning it would have been scandalous for God’s name to be used in vain on the air waves. Words and gestures that you hear and see on such “harmless” channels as Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel, like farting and belching would never have been tolerated in the beginning…but now it’s seen as completely normal to do in mixed company and comedic. Kids are shown in heated love scenes of various scenarios while their dumb parents seem oblivious to it all.

The 90’s seem to have kicked off the wave of homosexuality tolerance…and the new millennium has brought tolerance to every person regardless of sexual preference, race, or religion….as long as you’re NOT a christian. Education has become an idol and everyone seems to think they have the answers to life’s questions. They took that fancy philosophy class at college after all….

I’ve learned to become nearly un-shockable regarding what those “in the world” are doing. I don’t expect much of them. As far as I’m concerned, they are like blind men leading blind men.

But what does shock me, is when I see Christians changing God’s word to suit their tastes. I could spout off every error I see in Christendom, but the word of the day, today, is Egalitarianism. What a smooth, subtle lie this one is considering how we have digressed in one hundred years or so. “It’s the little foxes who spoil the vines”, says Solomon 2:15

I always think that if someone from a century ago could see what we “swallow” as Christians on a daily basis, they would either laugh hysterically at our idiocy or turn away from us in horror and disgust. They would surely see us as some new fangled cult…far from the teachings of the Bible.

What this generation fails to see is that there is no new revelation being revealed from God’s word. There are no new books being written and added to the bible. It ended where it ended. The words on the age old pages don’t have multiple meanings- different from one person to the next.

Who is this generation? Who do they think they are to say…”No that’s not what God meant….
”People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. II Timothy 2:3

I know I use that passage a lot but I see the reflection of it staring me in the face every day.

Everywhere I look I see the modern Christian making allowances for their sin…
”Oh God didn’t mean for this or that to be taken literally…” or “well, no one is perfect…”, “it doesn’t say abortion is wrong in the bible so it’s ok”…the list goes on and on…

Like it or not, God has ordained certain laws for us to follow. It isn’t open to interpretation…

So on to Egalitarianism and its obvious flaws…ahhh yes equality for all in every aspect of life.

Here are the kinds of questions that immediately spring to mind…
Should 4 year old children have access to pornography like the 18 and up group?
Should a 10 year old be able to get a drivers license? How about consume alcohol?
Should a minor get to sign off on their parent’s tax return? Their name is also on it, you know?

I wonder who the clinically insane would vote for if someone brought a ballot in to them…?

Do animals fit into the egalitarian scheme? cause I could have a hay day with rights we could give them…

Did the coffee you just drank give his or her consent to being harvested and consumed…? Poor coffee bean….

Those are some rather extreme situations but where does this man made philosophy end?
We must have boundaries in order to have an orderly, healthy and happy life. God has set some up for us that we would be wise to follow.

One of these is biblical Patriarchy, which I suppose egalitarianists see as their antithesis.

I admit that this biblical principal has been somewhat lost, largely through the fault of many churches failing to teach it on an ongoing basis and largely because we as christians have LET it be lost. But it is still there and is still law whether we choose to foolishly dismiss it or not.

Here is an excellent post on true, biblical patriarchy.

One must question oneself on exactly “who” benefits from an egalitarian society?

On the surface, the shallow mind would conclude that EVERYONE would benefit from equality in all aspects of life.

But I believe our society has “stuck their pinky toe” in the water and found that it fails miserably.

Can anyone tell me who has benefited since women have entered the work place? Is it the woman who works 8-12 hours a day only to return home to more work? Is it the child whose parents have placed them in day care because they are unable to lovingly attend to his/her care themselves? Is it the man who works 8-12 hours a day and then comes home and flops down on the couch with a beer in his hand in front of a wide screen football game? Hmmm, now we’re onto something.

Like feminism, egalitarianism was created by men FOR men. Men have created a society in which they are willingly considered bumbling idiots incapable of anything other than their job. Domestic tasks such as filling the dish washer and changing diapers have proved too much for him…so where does that leave the woman?…taking more and more responsibility from him. She works MORE, he works LESS…and the kids are lost somewhere in the shuffle by parents who have very skewered ideals on the priorities of their own lives.

Men have abdicated their roles as sole provider and spiritual leader and women ….ahhh women. Just like our mother Eve we continue to think that we can do better than the man...always trying to prove something aren't we?

I don’t think female feminists or egalitarianists want equality at all- they want world recognition as being superior to our male counter parts. Take a look at the average sitcom and you’ll see I’m right. Mom is the genius who does it all , kids have both parents “buffaloed”, and dad is an idiot.

But dad is not prideful…he knows he has it good. Feminism has proved to be very comfortable for him indeed.

Biblical patriarchy is a perfect plan when it is carried out by all parties involved just as God intended. “If it’s not broke, then don’t fix it.”

Egalitarianism is for “weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.”

Where do we go from here? Final thoughts on the election...

My family and I are reading Training Hearts, Teaching Minds by Starr Meade. It is a devotional that is based on the shorter Westminster Catechism. Today, we moved on to question 26-

How is Christ a King?

As a king, Christ brings us under His power, rules and defends us, and restrains and conquers all His and all our enemies.

Each catechism has a short devotional to drive the answer home...here's an excerpt of todays devotional...

God had promised to send One who would be the greatest Prophet of all to reveal Him and His will to us. He had promised that this One would also be the perfect Priest, offering a sacrifice valuable enough to pay for all our sin and make us right with God. God had also promised that this One would rule as the highest King of all, whose kingdom would last forever.

Before Jesus came, God gave kings to His people. Again they were only to be pictures of His chosen Ruler and to show the need for a perfect King. Some Old Testament kings were better than others. The best one was David, a man after God's own heart. He wanted to rule for God's glory and to protect and defend God's people. In this, he was a picture of Christ, God's perfect King. Even so, at times he sinned miserably. At times he put what he wanted for himself before the will of God. He did some foolish and even sinful things that put his people in danger to get what he wanted for himself. In this, he showed the need for a sinless King who would always seek the will of God and the good of God's people without ever failing.

The scripture reference for this passage is found in Isaiah 9:6-7. It is VERY timely I think, with this being the day after the election.

" 6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, [b] Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.

I think the message of this lesson is that throughout history, God has ordained kings from every tribe, language and people to rule over their people for an alotted time in history. Some were good, others TERRIBLE. The point in this though, is that through the failures of man we find ourselves constantly searching for the next BEST leader. The one who will solve all of our problems and bring peace to the world. We never seem to tire of searching and hoping for this saviour to come into office.

But he will not be found among men.

He is only to be found in the heavenly realms. I believe God is using the failures of man to show us how desperate mankind really is for the perfect ruler- Jesus Christ.

When He does return to rule His people, we will suddenly see that fleshly men never had a chance of succeeding perfectly as Kings. Christ will rule us with such wisdom, compassion, and love that it will suddenly seem foolish to us that we could have ever put our trust in Man to rule us.

So now that the votes are in and our new president has been named, don't feel fear or hopelessness as you contemplate the downward spiral we will likely face in the next four years, and years to come.

Watch God. Consider what He's doing and what He is bringing to pass. Remember God is Sovereign. It did not take Him by surprise that Obama was elected. He has planned this among everything else to complete His purpose and plan for mankind.

I think that from here on out, the wicked will become more wicked, but according to scripture, the Godly will become more righteous.

Now is not the time to draw back-

...we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. Hebrews 10:38

We, as Christians, will be more persecuted, more sneered at and mocked in the days to come. Our nation...the world in fact HATES christians. It's not a pleasant thought is it? That is what is offensive about the gospel message...that's why so few have been chosen...not just everyone can accept the call of Christ...only those God has enabled. We're not promised health, wealth, popularity etc. once we become christians. We are promised by Christ that:

"..you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me." Matthew 24:9

Are you ready to die for Christ?

I don't want to come off like a "chicken little" shouting "the sky is falling, the sky is falling!" when it's not. But we do not know what's going to happen tomorrow.
Our freedoms could vanish quite quickly under a Socialist Government..which is what Obama is so keen of.

We simply cannot wait until we NEED our faith to utilize it. We need to have our armor on NOW and be ready to GO at a moments notice...come what may.

Psalm 50:5-7

5 The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears,
and I have not been rebellious;
I have not drawn back.

6 I offered my back to those who beat me,
my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard;
I did not hide my face
from mocking and spitting.

7 Because the Sovereign LORD helps me,
I will not be disgraced.
Therefore have I set my face like flint,
and I know I will not be put to shame.

Let's dig our heels in Saints and go out with a blaze of His Glory!

What Have We Become?

I don't really know how to introduce these clips that I hope you'll take the time to watch. I know if you press play, you'll be glad you did. It is POWERFUL!
All I know is that we have GOT to stop letting our culture make our decisions for us on what is right and what is wrong- what is acceptable and what is unacceptable.

If you wonder how we've gotten to the pathetic place we're at (morally) in this "christian" nation- I challenge you to begin to question the things you do which you consider so harmless. Is primetime TV harmless? Are those books harmless? Your music, is it harmless? Is marijuana harmless? Is protected pre- marital sex harmless? Is taking birth control harmless?

A startling revelation has come to me recently...The first abortion happened when the first woman took the first birth control pill. (OK I realize that abortions were happening way before that, but for the sake of making a dramatic thought provoking statement, I'll leave it just as it is.)

Our culture now looks upon babies and pregnancies as if they are pests that can be prevented and exterminated when necessary.

When did our mindset so change from valuing the sanctity of life to the one that so arrogantly chooses WHEN and IF?

A pregnancy was once one of the hallmarks of married life. Children were seen as the ultimate blessing between a man and a woman. If a couple happened to be fertile and have many children, they were seen as a blessed and prosperous family.
But today, if a couple chooses to have more than 3 kids they are scorned, made a mockery of, thought to be repulsive and abnormal. You hear comments like, "Don't they know what causes that?", or "why doesn't he leave her alone", "can you spell b-i-r-t-h c-o-n-t-r-o-l?", "they must do it like rabbits!"

Where did this line of thinking come from? How did things so change in a relatively short time span of 50 years?

It began with the pill. Thanks to a new philosophy introduced by Margaret Sanger in 1916 a little notion entered the mind of woman. It whispered that she could be free from the role that nature itself had carved out for her. It was a cunning thought, one whose very voice sounded very similar to the one heard by Eve in the garden. The voice that promised new independence, freedom, and wisdom. The world was dangled in front of the womans eyes once again and like before... she chose wrongly.
Everytime, since the first woman wooed by Margaret Sanger, that a woman has chosen birth control pills, she has cried out "I do not want my child!, I'll kill it instead!"

We know that oral contraceptives occassionally fail. We forget to take them or we take them late. We also know that most times a contraceptive fails and conception occurs, that the the progestin in the birth control causes the fertilized egg...i.e. your baby to abort...to die. We know all this ladies and yet... we say that we're pro life? How we've lied to ourselves and believed our own lies!

But it's always the intentions of our hearts that is judged isn't it?
By the simple act of trying to prevent life, we can see that our intentions are murderous. I have repented this morning for having wrong intentions in my heart by once being on a substance that may have not only killed my babies, but at very least prevented them...how arrogant of me, how self centered and ANTI- God.
I've always made the claim that I would NEVER have an abortion. I would never kill my baby under any circumstance...but the truth is that I may have already done it several times simply by being on birth control. How many self righteous christian women I've known who have done and are doing the same thing...knowingly! May God have mercy on us all...

I may never know if I caused abortion by taking birth control. I was on it infrequently and rather sporadically in the early years of our marriage. (It never seemed to agree with me...imagine that.) I will have to wonder and mourn over it for the rest of my days though.

It just makes me mad! Why? Why do we take these things so lightly? Why don't we weigh what we do and why we're doing it more? Why don't we question our own motives on things? Why do we just go along with the crowd so often?

Is God sovereign or not? Can we trust him ladies, to decide how many children we are to have? Isn't every life ordained by God? Does He make mistakes that we have to correct by birth control and abortion?

We spend the first few years of our adult lives trying to prevent children and then when we deem that we're ready, our bodies betray us, ruined by the drugs that we have fed them to prevent the life that we so desperately want... now. If I believed in Karma, this would be the perfect example.

I know more women with reproductive problems and infertility than I know who do not have any. Could this be God's judgement? The sentence given to us for the scorn we have felt toward our God given gift as givers of life?

God gave women the most beautiful, important and noble of tasks...to bring life into the world. And we have SPIT in His face. We've screamed to Him that we don't want it...we only want what the world wants. So, being the gentleman He is, he has taken it away from many of us.

Problem solved isn't it?
