Egalitarianism...the next Christian Fumble.

They say it all started with Elvis and his “fast” music and gyrating hips. But there were many catalysts before Elvis that affected the moral standards that we have today. Prohibition brought lawlessness to an all time high in the 20’s, World War II brought women into the work place (outside of her home) in the 40’s and seduced her with the idea of having “more” outside of husband, children and home. Rock and Roll scandalized the upstanding citizens in the western world in the beginning, but slowly most people learned to swallow it. Next we saw the generation of the 60’s who seemed bent on rebellion simply for the sake of rebellion. Bras were burned, “free” love was the going thing, and illegal drug use soared.

Things only continued to worsen in the 70’s and 80’s. What we saw on television declined. The FCC has seen many alterations to their rules as well. In the beginning it would have been scandalous for God’s name to be used in vain on the air waves. Words and gestures that you hear and see on such “harmless” channels as Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel, like farting and belching would never have been tolerated in the beginning…but now it’s seen as completely normal to do in mixed company and comedic. Kids are shown in heated love scenes of various scenarios while their dumb parents seem oblivious to it all.

The 90’s seem to have kicked off the wave of homosexuality tolerance…and the new millennium has brought tolerance to every person regardless of sexual preference, race, or religion….as long as you’re NOT a christian. Education has become an idol and everyone seems to think they have the answers to life’s questions. They took that fancy philosophy class at college after all….

I’ve learned to become nearly un-shockable regarding what those “in the world” are doing. I don’t expect much of them. As far as I’m concerned, they are like blind men leading blind men.

But what does shock me, is when I see Christians changing God’s word to suit their tastes. I could spout off every error I see in Christendom, but the word of the day, today, is Egalitarianism. What a smooth, subtle lie this one is considering how we have digressed in one hundred years or so. “It’s the little foxes who spoil the vines”, says Solomon 2:15

I always think that if someone from a century ago could see what we “swallow” as Christians on a daily basis, they would either laugh hysterically at our idiocy or turn away from us in horror and disgust. They would surely see us as some new fangled cult…far from the teachings of the Bible.

What this generation fails to see is that there is no new revelation being revealed from God’s word. There are no new books being written and added to the bible. It ended where it ended. The words on the age old pages don’t have multiple meanings- different from one person to the next.

Who is this generation? Who do they think they are to say…”No that’s not what God meant….
”People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. II Timothy 2:3

I know I use that passage a lot but I see the reflection of it staring me in the face every day.

Everywhere I look I see the modern Christian making allowances for their sin…
”Oh God didn’t mean for this or that to be taken literally…” or “well, no one is perfect…”, “it doesn’t say abortion is wrong in the bible so it’s ok”…the list goes on and on…

Like it or not, God has ordained certain laws for us to follow. It isn’t open to interpretation…

So on to Egalitarianism and its obvious flaws…ahhh yes equality for all in every aspect of life.

Here are the kinds of questions that immediately spring to mind…
Should 4 year old children have access to pornography like the 18 and up group?
Should a 10 year old be able to get a drivers license? How about consume alcohol?
Should a minor get to sign off on their parent’s tax return? Their name is also on it, you know?

I wonder who the clinically insane would vote for if someone brought a ballot in to them…?

Do animals fit into the egalitarian scheme? cause I could have a hay day with rights we could give them…

Did the coffee you just drank give his or her consent to being harvested and consumed…? Poor coffee bean….

Those are some rather extreme situations but where does this man made philosophy end?
We must have boundaries in order to have an orderly, healthy and happy life. God has set some up for us that we would be wise to follow.

One of these is biblical Patriarchy, which I suppose egalitarianists see as their antithesis.

I admit that this biblical principal has been somewhat lost, largely through the fault of many churches failing to teach it on an ongoing basis and largely because we as christians have LET it be lost. But it is still there and is still law whether we choose to foolishly dismiss it or not.

Here is an excellent post on true, biblical patriarchy.

One must question oneself on exactly “who” benefits from an egalitarian society?

On the surface, the shallow mind would conclude that EVERYONE would benefit from equality in all aspects of life.

But I believe our society has “stuck their pinky toe” in the water and found that it fails miserably.

Can anyone tell me who has benefited since women have entered the work place? Is it the woman who works 8-12 hours a day only to return home to more work? Is it the child whose parents have placed them in day care because they are unable to lovingly attend to his/her care themselves? Is it the man who works 8-12 hours a day and then comes home and flops down on the couch with a beer in his hand in front of a wide screen football game? Hmmm, now we’re onto something.

Like feminism, egalitarianism was created by men FOR men. Men have created a society in which they are willingly considered bumbling idiots incapable of anything other than their job. Domestic tasks such as filling the dish washer and changing diapers have proved too much for him…so where does that leave the woman?…taking more and more responsibility from him. She works MORE, he works LESS…and the kids are lost somewhere in the shuffle by parents who have very skewered ideals on the priorities of their own lives.

Men have abdicated their roles as sole provider and spiritual leader and women ….ahhh women. Just like our mother Eve we continue to think that we can do better than the man...always trying to prove something aren't we?

I don’t think female feminists or egalitarianists want equality at all- they want world recognition as being superior to our male counter parts. Take a look at the average sitcom and you’ll see I’m right. Mom is the genius who does it all , kids have both parents “buffaloed”, and dad is an idiot.

But dad is not prideful…he knows he has it good. Feminism has proved to be very comfortable for him indeed.

Biblical patriarchy is a perfect plan when it is carried out by all parties involved just as God intended. “If it’s not broke, then don’t fix it.”

Egalitarianism is for “weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.”
